Photography is a way that we capture memories in a single moment in time. Whether it is a smile, a flower, a tree, a monument, a house or even Birkhill Castle, through photography we can save and share those moments and images forever.

While a snapshot might be a nice thing for a photo album, what can you do to bring a memory to life on your walls? Here we’ll be discussing ways to decorate your home with memories, and the best ways to showcase them.

Digital Frames

Digital frames are nice, especially for older and younger family and friends. They usually come with a usb dongle adapter, so you can load all the best pictures up. Before buying a digital frame, you should have your pictures scanned by someone, or you can do this yourself; if you have a large volume of photos you might want to hire someone else to do it for you so you don’t have to spend too much time on this. Many digital frames will run through a cycle of different photos loaded onto It, and you can even set it to make neat little transition effects.

Canvas Art

Canvas art is a great way to showcase your photos, and some companies can even make pop art style portraits of you. This can be a fun way to decorate your house and showcase an important moment in your life. When choosing a picture for use as a canvas, check your photo’s DPI! A DPI of 150 is recommended for standard printers and 50-100 for gicleé prints. These are usually thought of as nicer than a digital frame, as it’s something tangible that you can pass on to others, and won’t become outdated or outmoded by software and hardware.

Photo gifts

Photo gifts are available from a wide array of vendors and sites, with anything from coffee cups, calendars, blankets and more. You can make personalized flip books (photo albums in paperback book form) and just about any other type of product imaginable from your own photos. The biggest plus of this type of gift or product is that it’s individualized, and you can make any kind of gift with it.

In the end all you need is a good photo and your imagination!

The more you exist, the more memories you are going to have. If you are not watchful, you can fill your home to the rim with your memories, and you won’t have room for everything else. Have 1 or 2 plastic boxes or steel drums to store your souvenirs. Decide what you wish to keep, and what you can do without. When these containers are filled, the rule is to lose, or give away, one thing before you put another item in.

This will guarantee only the most prized memories are stored in your Memory Box ( es ). While packing clothing for a trip, lay out all you think you’ll need on your bed — then, put 1/2 it back in your wardrobe. Most people take far more than is crucial and end up hauling needless weight on the way. Chances are, you will be able to wear each outfit at least 2 times, especially if you mix ‘n match different tops with different bottoms.

Organizing your home or office does take significant energy. That’s why knowing your top energy level is so essential and the reason a lot of folks think of providing this kind of service a legitimate home business opportunity. If you are an early bird and your energy level is extremely high in the morning, that it’s the perfect time for you to declutter. If you have more energy at night, organize in that time instead.

With the quantity of things you’ve got to keep in mind in any particular day, why should you try and stuff it all into your memory bank? When you would like to remember something, the very best action to take is write it down. Then, when you need to recall it, it’ll be there for you in a second. If you are at work, and you need to do something when you arrive home, call your answering machine and leave yourself a message. When you get home, you will hear your message and remember exactly what you needed to do.

I recently met a person that has an interesting hobby: he collects cigars from all over the word. His collection has increased a lot these last two years because he started shopping online for the cigars. He ended up discovering that cigars internet prices were worthier than asking friends and strange travelers to bring him cigars from the places they were visiting.

I also know a person that is trying to enter the Guiness Book with the larger collection of sugar packs.

Well, some collect stamps other coins and others have stranger hobbies.

Mini indoor greenhouse

A greenhouse is something I don’t have but I would like to. Growing our own vegetables is an option when we have a little space on the backyard and I have that space. Although I have a big backyard I don’t wanna use those big steel buildings some people use. I prefer a small green house just to start having a few vegetables and later, if I realize that it’s worth to have a bigger greenhouse, I will then rethink the size.

Large copyright sign made of jigsaw puzzle pieces
Jigsaws make the ideal gift or just as a pastime to wind away dull and dreary days. Many jigsaws have the ability to actually stimulate the brain helping to improve your intellectual power and cognitive capabilities.

The jigsaw puzzle has many years of illustrious pastimes reverting back to the early 1760′s. The jigsaw came about through European map makers who created maps through pasting maps on to wooden surfaces and then cutting them out in to small pieces. Then as you can guess if these pieces became mixed up it had to then be pieced back in to place making an amusing pastime which has been successful ever since.

The jigsaw comes in many unique shapes and styles which can be extremely easy or very difficult depending on your own taste. In the early days jigsaw puzzles were very challenging. Many pieces were cut exact to the color lines without transitional pieces such as we have today where you can see for instance the blue color of sky against different colors based around the picture. On top of this the pieces did not interlock like the pieces within the standard puzzles of today. A stumble, sneeze or careless movement could undo an entire day’s work. Also the puzzles did not have a picture guide situated on the front of the box, so it was either trial or error that led to the puzzle gaining completion.

The cost of the jigsaw was very expensive in the early periods due to the work placed in to making the wooden puzzles. Each piece had to be cut out one at a time. So it was mainly wealthy families who first were introduced to the pleasures of the jigsaw. It was only over the years of 1909 – 1910 that the jigsaw became immensely popular with society through the innovations of the Parker Brothers. The Parker Brothers introduced figure pieces which were a lot easier to assemble combined with interlocking styling which reduced the risk of losing pieces.

However it was not until the Great Depression in 1929 that puzzles enjoyed a resurgence of popularity and actually peaking within 1933 when sales reached an amazing amount of 10 million per week. The puzzle seemed to offer an escape from the troubled reality of unemployment, possibly due to feeling a certain sense of success when completing a jigsaw puzzle. Read the rest of this entry »
