I found these SMS messages somewhere on the web sometime ago and I couldn’t resist to post them here. Come on, let’s relax a bit.

Optical Illusions: Can You See Them?

Some years ago I went to a big mall where there was taking place an informal exhibition. Several framed drawings were spread on a wall and on improvised cabinets. At first I thought I was looking at abstract drawings but than an assistant came to me and explained me what those were. She told me they were optical illusions.

At first I didn’t see nothing special, but after trying a few times I managed to get the technique of looking at those images and see something special. It’s amazing how our mind works and can transform one image in something else.

The imagine I’m showing on this post is one of the dozens shown on the website Grand Illusions and it’s called The Amazing Dots. So, how does it work?

Watch the X in the middle very closely. You should start to see a green dot that rotates around the circle – this dot is an illusion; then you should see see the purple dots disappear…. but they haven’t really gone. It is an after image effect, sometimes called a ‘negative retinal afterimage’ – move your head slightly, and the dots will reappear… amazing or what?

This illusion was designed by Jeremy L Hinton of Bristol, UK, and this illusion – with a lot more explanation and many other illusions as well – can be found at the web site of Michael Bach.

So, did you see the green dot and the purple dots disappearing? I did. Quite amazing, isn’t it?

Fun Stuff: Weird Shoes

A friend sent me this photo on a funny images email and I really found it very interesting.

Who is going to use these shoes? I mean, rocawear jeans are comfortable, adidas sneakers are comfortable but these shoes for sure they aren’t. Well, at least that’s my opinion. I can’t use this type of shoes because I have back problems so, I would never look for them while shopping.

What about you? Do you think you would like to wear them?

Riding the Roller Coaster

I never ride a roller coaster, not due fear but due to sickness and heart problems. But I must confess, I would love to ride one. Now, would I take my kids with me? Not at all. Look as this five years old.

I think this shows the extreme force people face when they go in the roller coaster. On my case, I would need to make a term life insurance before riding it just in case my heart stopped during the ride.

I found this image on the web and it really made me laugh. From the clothes to the “something” she has on her hair, from the pose to the Black and Mild or Cuban cigar, everything is funny. I’m sure she’s not worried about lung cancer, in fact, if she smoked her whole life than she looks really nice and seems to have a young mind.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is just 34 days away and we can already see signs of celebration and euphoria. Flags, hats, mugs, t-shirts and soccer balls with the logo of the World Cup are all over the place ready to be bought and used. There are already people that make personalized items with the photo of the person that is going to use it. Also, personalized footballs with the image of the favorite player are also available to be ordered.

Some teams are a little upset with all the talking about the violence in South Africa but I hope they can play safely and fairly. Let the best win!

Misspelling can be Dangerous

We have to be careful with some misspelling words that can have very “different” meanings. Yesterday I was reading some blog posts from other bloggers I know and there was a misspelling that pop up. I sent a message to the fellow blogger and immediately corrected the word, I would like to receive the same feedback if it was the other way around. She was saying: “We are moving to a new house where we will have an extenze backyard where I can grow my biological garden.” Well, she meant “extensive backyard”.

Misspelling happens and sometimes they are not caught in the spelling tool or we are in a hurry and press Publish before taking a close look at what we have just written.

She thanked me for telling her and she was quite ashamed imagining how many people had already read the post.
