Market is flooded with different varieties of refrigerators. When you go to buy a new one, you often get confused that which one, you should select? You often get confused between convenience and performance. But keep one thing in mind that a refrigerator keeps on running whole day and they consume near around 20% of your electric units. So while choosing, take a piece that can efficiently solve your purpose and will not cost you much higher.
Two things that you need to consider while purchasing a refrigerator are: your requirements and how much money you can spend on it. You will select a piece according to your requirements and at last you will finalize one based on the money you can spend on it.
Size of your refrigerator should be such that it can properly adjust the things. It is basically decided by the number of members in your family. For a family having two members, 10 cu. ft. refrigerator is sufficient and with increase in every single member 1 cu. ft in capacity should be increased.
Decide in advance that where you are going to put your new refrigerator. If you are planning to put it in your kitchen then properly measure the space available in your kitchen so that you can take a fridge that can easily adjust there.
Some refrigerators have adjustable shelves that can be adjusted to put various long and short containers inside the fridge. So just check this feature while buying a new one. Easy to clean and easily maintainable fridges are generally preferred by people.
Confirm the presence of light fittings inside the refrigerator. It is very essential to have lights inside the refrigerator in the dark. Most of the refrigerator compressors are noisy, but with adequate insulation you can dull the sound. So check the insulation for sound control efficacy.
A refrigerator in which you can easily work on ice or water dispenser is a good choice but assure that this fridge will work efficiently in future also. Most refrigerators have door storage which is considered to be good for storing liquid bottles.
If you want a model that can help you in saving energy for you then look for a model with efficient compressor and motor. Before choosing one, evaluate features and prices of various refrigerators and take the most cost effective piece that can save considerable amount of energy.

You also need to know how long the refrigerator is under warranty. When I look at something I make sure the tag UL is on it.I agree that you need to make sure it is an energy saver.I live in the State of Maryland where the electric is very high,That would especially come in handy
