What Is Spyware? Is it dangerous?
If you’ve recently purchased a computer, the store where you bought it for sure as available anti-virus and spam removal options for you to buy. There is also software on the internet that can be safely downloaded onto your computer. But what is spyware and why do you you need it? Here are some benefits to having this system on your computer as well as how you can keep it updated.
Spyware is placed on a computer to monitor the activity of that computer. The activity report is transmitted through the internet conection and allows you to verify if other people is or have been trying to download certain documents or programs from your computer. It also detects whether or not your computer has a virus.
If you are trying to enter a site that may cause problems on your computer or a website that the spyware does not recognize, then you will be asked if you are sure that you want to enter the site, and you will also receive a notification of the risk of entering. If you are searching for a certain site or subject on the internet, then this will also be monitored by spyware. Many company offices have this system installed on their computers that are used only for professional use, so that online games, non-work related photos and inappropriate websites can not be viewed at work.
The company that has issued the software for the computer will get the results of the information the spyware has tracked. Then, the information may be sold to other companies for marketing purposes. For instance, if you are a golf fan, and are visiting a lot of golf-related websites often, then the spyware on your computer will send this information to your computer’s manufacturer and you may start to receive pop-up adds promoting golf goods stores that you can order from online.
In order to eliminate this, you may have to get a pop-up blocker installed on your computer, so that you won’t have to deal with pop-up ads anymore and to protect your privacy while you’re on the computer. The programs for anti-virus installation can be found at a number of electronic stores in your area, so check out places like Radio Shack, Circuit City, and Best Buy to find programs that will help you to protect your computer.
If you are not sure about computer terms or you need to gather more information about spyware before buying any more computers, then you should visit sites like www.spyware.info or www.microsoft.com and get updated information on how to keep companies and individuals away from viewing your private information you have stored on your computer.

Be forewarned I recently had a virus that acted like a anti-spyware program that was already installed in my PC. I needed to “update my info” with them to get the spyware it found off my computer. They really wanted me to pass up my credit card!!

It always amazes me that those who create these programs have nothing better to do than to infect our computers with junk. Plus there is so many out there it is next to impossible to avoid them if you are using your computer at all.
